Boycott Utah Because California Banned Gay Marriage. What!?!

That's right the tolerant left is now calling Utah a "hate state" after the Mormon church pumped millions of dollars in to get Prop 8 passed in California. "The main focus is going to be going after the Utah brand," he said. "At this point, honestly, we're going to destroy the Utah brand. It is a hate state." OK so does that make California. "At this point, the Californians are the victims and the Mormons are the persecutors," he said. "We had won this until they swept in ... We need to send a message to Utah that they need to stop trying to inflict their way of life on every other state." Really? Did he really just say that? It seems to me that it must be the other way around otherwise wouldn't Prop 8 have failed. I wonder if commercials like this one run by those opposed to prop 8 actually helped to pass the legislation.

Now if gay marriage proponents wanted to boycott California because they banned gay marriage that would make sense. People in California went to the polls and voted to pass this amendment to the State Constitution. So why not boycott California? I can think of several reasons. One much better weather than Utah, come on why would anyone deprive themselves of the California sun when they can just blame the Mormons. Two, I bet none of these people have ever even been to Utah. So basically they're not suffering at all from boycotting the State. Three, most likely the people behind this hated religion before this vote. Finally four, California is a blue state and for the most part gay marriage proponents support what goes on there. Despite the fact they just rejected gay marriage. Utah is a Red State and therefore inherently evil in their minds.

So how are these hateful Mormons responding. Church spokeswoman Kim Farah said in a statement about the temple protests Friday that it is "disturbing" that the church is being singled out for exercising its right to speak up in a free election.
"While those who disagree with our position on Proposition 8 have the right to make their feelings known, it is wrong to target the Church and its sacred places of worship for being part of the democratic process," Farah said.

The church had said in a statement after Tuesday's vote that "no one on any side of the question should be vilified, intimidated, harassed or subject to erroneous information."

Let's punish those Mormons in Utah because people in California voted to ban gay marriage. Maybe I'm confused but who are the bigots again?

  2. The bigots are the ones depriving people of civil rights. That much is pretty straight-forward.

Also, while I think this "boycott" is stupid, I'm not sure why the Mormons are calling this "disturbing." No one is denying that the Mormons had the right to spend $22 million in this campaign to deprive individuals of what were previously their constitutional rights. But what the Church doesn't have is the right not to feel any repercussions for their actions. If people want to start a boycott and call them out on their involvement in the campaign, then that's those people's freedom of speech at work. That's what freedom is.

  3. SInce Mormons make up the majority of CA this makes perfect sense. Heeellooo??? LDS people are only 2% of the CA population. Remember CALIFORNIANS passed the prop.

Gays have all the rights under the law - CA family code 297.5 - look it up.

They want everyone to accept their lifestyle. If you throw trash on my lawn you can't get mad at me if I want to clean it up. Just because you can doesn't mean I have to accept it.

Marriage was there way before prop 8. Gays want to to change it; they wanted to push their agenda on us. When we don't accept it they revile and hate us, calling us the bigots.

Give gays all the rights; I agree 100% but keep marriage the same - call the ceremony something else.

  4. I think that you have this one right. The Boycott is stupid, and it is like you said, most likely only going forward because California is a blue state and Utah is a Red state. Oh brother, this country I fear, is in for a hard couple of years to come. And everyone who speaks out like I do and these blogs like this one, will most likely be targeted for being stupid and posting hate filled messages. So, get ready for it, cause the new Gestapo is coming.

  5. And why just Utah, why not boycott every state that has passed a marriage amendment?

  6. Boycott Utah? Boycott California? Boycott?

People have the right to not spend time and money wherever they choose.

As the Mormon Church as the right to spend its resources on issues that it considers detrimental to America, especially the family.

  7. Let me tell you something, this wont sit well with Californians. There are a lot of LDS folks in California and people know they are good folks and super nice people. What I find funny is that some of these guys are going to "instead of skiing in Utah will ski in Colorado." Yeah, newsflash, there are TONS of Mormons in Colorado. So its really just pretty lame. Gays have rights, they just can't have the term of marriage. By the way it wasnt "Mormons" in Florida and the other states that passed similar amendments, face it, this is still a culturally conservative country.

  8. Those liberals need to take their own advice they are giving everyone else who express disappointment and concerns about Obama getting elected. Their advice is We had an election you lost get over it. So you liberals need to get over it already, you hypocrites.

  9. The Mormon church is a racist, misogynistic, heterosexist, and anti atheist hate group. People have every right to fight back against Mormon bigotry.
