Take millions of people, already hopped-up on hallucinatory visions of hope and change. Add in lots of booze, and leave the bars open all week long, with alcohol prohibited for just two hours per day.

What could go wrong?

Hoping to tap in to an inaugural bonanza, the D.C. Council Tuesday night voted in favor of extending last call to 5 a.m. and allow bars and restaurants to serve food around the clock during inauguration week.

Millions of visitors are expected to descend on the city to celebrate Barack Obama's presidential swearing-in on Jan. 20. The council hopes to accommodate the throng by allowing licensed restaurants and taverns to serve drinks later and to keep their doors open 24 hours a day for the whole week.

Sounds perfectly reasonable.

Council member Jim Graham, Ward 1 Democrat, who introduced the bill, said the measure will allow the city's entertainment industry to "engage fully" in inauguration week, which includes Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Jan. 19.

Mr. Graham said the measure also will encourage celebrations that are safely indoors. He pointed to the boisterous revelers on election night as an example for the city to try to avoid.

"On election night there were just throngs of people who were pouring into the street, and I think people may be safer celebrating inside than be wandering the streets," he said.

Yes, I can see how this would allow people to "engage fully" in the festivities. Has anyone studied the effects of combining Obama Kool-Aid with other mind-altering drugs? No need, D.C. will soon become one big laboratory.

The Democrat council member makes a good point. People would be much safer inside than they would be wandering the streets. One question: How exactly does he intend to keep these people inside? They have to leave eventually, no?

Now, I am against the legislation of closing times for bars to begin with. I believe it is highly discriminatory against people with odd working hours and/or sleeping habits. That being said, if ever there were a time when you want to cling to existing laws, I think this might be one of them. There must be some other reason all these Dems are behind this...


Council Chairman Vincent C. Gray, a Democrat, said at a press conference on Monday that the bill would allow the city to cash in on a lot of extra revenue.

Mr. Graham agreed.

"It's not a principal factor behind the legislation, but given these economic times it is a factor," he said. "There are certainly concerns regarding city revenue, and with the inauguration there's definitely a lot to be had," he said.

Ah, yes. Money. Show a Democrat a way to gouge taxpayers to the fullest, and they'll implement it. Public safety be damned.

I suppose I could think of worse things than the idea of gathering a couple million of the biggest leftists in the country in one spot for a week, letting the booze flow like a faucet, and sitting back and watching it all play out. Of course, conservatives will end up saving the day when the National Guard gets called in.

Wealth Redistribution in Action

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read "Vote Obama, I need the money." I laughed.

Once in the restaurant my server had on an "Obama 08" tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference--just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn, even though the actual recipient deserved money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

I think we should all spend the rest of our time showing people what Obama's policies our instead of trying to tell them. For instance next time you go out to eat instead of tipping your serving tell them you giving their tip to charity in their name. You could also just give the tip to someone else in the resturant you saw working hard like the bus boy, the dishwasher, or even another server. Just make sure they understand they your just redistributing the wealth like Obama would.

McCain wins debate hands down

I realize the majority disagrees with me, I just can't figure out why. I think McCain objectivly won last night's debate. He stayed on offense for the whole time. He bought up Joe the plumber, Ayers, and ACORN. He hit Obama almost every possible way he could. I don't think he knocked him out but he won a decisive decision. However, I think people that felt McCain needed a knockout saw he didn't get it and immediatly said he lost for that reason only. I think that's the wrong way of judging a debate. McCain hit him on taxes, abortion, the economy, his plan for universal healthcare. The fact Obama lied about his policies doesn't change the fact they are his policies. John Lewis (D-GA) compares McCain to George Wallace

Yes that George Wallace, the segregationist former governor of Alabama. "What I am seeing reminds me of too much of another destructive period in American history," Lewis said in a statement released to FOX News.

"Senator McCain and Governor Palin are sowing the seeds of hatred and division, and there is no need for this hostility in our political discourse."

"George Wallace never threw a bomb.(That's more than can be said for some of Obama's friends.) He never fired a gun, but he created the climate and the conditions that encouraged vicious attacks against innocent Americans who were simply trying to exercise their constitutional rights," Lewis added. "Because of this atmosphere of hate, four little girls were killed on Sunday morning when a church was bombed in Birmingham, Alabama."

He then accused McCain and Palin of "playing with fire" in a way that "disregards the value of the political process and cheapens our entire democracy."

Here is McCain's Response: "Congressman John Lewis' comments represent a character attack against Governor Sarah Palin and me that is shocking and beyond the pale," McCain said in a written statement. "The notion that legitimate criticism of Senator Obama's record and positions could be compared to Governor George Wallace, his segregationist policies and the violence he provoked is unacceptable and has no place in this campaign."

Are you kidding me? McCain named John Lewis as a person he would seek for advice at the Saddleback forum and this is how he responds. McCain of course showed class in his response to Congressman Lewis. I'm not sure if I could've done the same if the guy just called me a racist, and compared me to a segregationist.

Well I'm sure Obama doesn't want this kind of rhetoic to be assoiciated with his campaign so I'm sure he'll denouce the comment, right? Wrong.

Basically Obama's camp said he's not George Wallace, but the rest of the statement is fine with us. After this his spokesman has the nerve to say "the last thing we need from either party is the kind of angry, divisive rhetoric that tears us apart at a time of crisis when we desperately need to come together." I hate to be repetive but, are you kidding me? John Lewis compares McCain to George Wallace, accuses him of creating a climate that encourages vicious attacks against innocent Americans, and then brings up one of the most famous racist killings of all time, the last two which Obama seems to be fine with, and your telling me your not trying to be divisive.

Sorry Obama, I don't live in the same fantasy land that you obvisously do. When someone says McCain is racist, or that he's making racist comments, or playing on race, or whatever the Hell John Lewis was saying. I'd find that to be divisive. Then he accuses McCain of "Creating a climate that encourages vicious attacks against innocent Americans," also divisive.

Lewis also said that McCain was playing with fire. What fire is he playing with exactly? Is Lewis saying that if Obama loses we will have riots in the streets, and that they will be McCain's fault for "creating the climate and the conditions that encouraged vicious attacks against innocent Americans?" For the record I don't think that is true, but is there any other way to read that comment?

McCain has been unbelievably above reproach on this issue. He has gone out of his way to be respectful to Obama. Even taking the mircophone from an old lady at a town hall who said she'd done some research and Obama is an Arab. He then told the crowd that Obama was a decent person that he had disagreements with and that they shouldn't be afraid of him. He's asked crowds at his events to show respect for Obama. Many Republicans believe he has been too respectful and that's why he's behind. Senator McCain I'm glad that you have found it necessary to show respect for Barrack Obama, but judging from this latest revelation he sure isn't showing any for you. GO GET EM!

ACORN continues to commit voter fraud!

The community housing/voter registeration group known as ACORN is continuing to commit voter fraud even while they know the world is watching

CLEVELAND - Two Ohio voters, including Domino's pizza worker Christopher Barkley , claimed yesterday that they were hounded by the community-activist group ACORN to register to vote several times, even though they made it clear they'd already signed up.

Barkley estimated he'd registered to vote "10 to 15" times after canvassers for ACORN, whose political wing has endorsed Barack Obama, relentlessly pursued him and others.

Claims such as his have sparked election officials to probe ACORN.

"I kept getting approached by folks who asked me to register," Barkley said. "They'd ask me if I was registered. I'd say yes, and they'd ask me to do it [register] again.

"Some of them were getting paid to collect names. That was their sob story, and I bought it," he said.

"You can tell them you're registered as many times as you want - they do not care," said Lateala Goins, 21, who was subpoenaed.

"They will follow you to the buses, they will follow you home, it does not matter," she told The Post.

I guess we know what happened to all the Ron Paul supporters now.

A third subpoenaed voter, Freddie Johnson, 19, filled out registration cards 72 times over 18 months, officials said.

72 registration cards. If he put a different address on each card he could vote 72 times in every election from here on out. So much for one person one vote. With ACORN it's one person however many times we can get you to register. I wonder how many McCain supporters they registered more than once, or even once.

"It feeds the public perception that there could be [fraud], and that makes the pillars fall down," said local Board of Elections President Jeff Hastings

Could be Fraud! This is Fraud ACORN officals should be rounded up and thrown in jail. This is American so they get a trail, but it doesn't seem like their is much doubt here as to what's going on.

ACORN's Cleveland spokesman, Kris Harsh, said his group collected 100,000 voter-registration cards; only about 50 were questionable, he claimed.

Maybe only 50 were questioned, but I bet at least 5,000 were questionable. Let me and some of my friends go and take a look at them. We'll be honest, unlike ACORN. I bet we uncover massive voter fraud. I'll willing to go now, and I'll do it for free.

As for workers, "We watch them like a hawk," he said.

A hawk, really I guess if the hawk if blind and deaf that would kinda make sense. Maybe they meant now that we've been caught we'll be much more careful about how we commit voter fraud. Because we know ACORN will not stop commiting fraud. Their political wing as come out in favor of Obama and they plan to do everything they can, including cheating, to make sure he wins.

McCain Suspends Campaign, Obama refuses to do the same.

MCCAIN: America this week faces an historic crisis in our financial system. We must pass legislation to address this crisis. If we do not, credit will dry up, with devastating consequences for our economy. People will no longer be able to buy homes and their life savings will be at stake. Businesses will not have enough money to pay their employees. If we do not act, ever corner of our country will be impacted. We cannot allow this to happen.

Last Friday, I laid out my proposal and I have since discussed my priorities and concerns with the bill the Administration has put forward. Senator Obama has expressed his priorities and concerns.This morning, I met with a group of economic advisers to talk about the proposal on the table and the steps that we should take going forward.I have also spoken with members of Congress to hear their perspective.

It has become clear that no consensus has developed to support the Administration' proposal. I do not believe that the plan on the table will pass as it currently stands, and we are running out of time.

Tomorrow morning, I will suspend my campaign and return to Washington after speaking at the Clinton Global Initiative. I have spoken to Senator Obama and informed him of my decision and have asked him to join me.

I am calling on the President to convene a meeting with the leadership from both houses of Congress, including Senator Obama and myself. It is time for both parties to come together to solve this problem.

We must meet as Americans, not as Democrats or Republicans, and we must meet until this crisis is resolved.I am directing my campaign to work with the Obama campaign and the commission on presidential debates to delay Friday night's debate until we have taken action to address this crisis.

I am confident that before the markets open on Monday we can achieve consensus on legislation that will stabilize our financial markets, protect taxpayers and homeowners, and earn the confidence of the American people. All we must do to achieve this is temporarily set politics aside, and I am committed to doing so.

Following September 11th, our national leaders came together at a time of crisis. We must show that kind of patriotism now. Obama has refused to suspend his campaign saying that we can do two things at once.

Once again McCain shows he is willing to put his country ahead of becoming President. This is the same man who supported the surge in Iraq when almost no one else did. When Obama said the surge wouldn't work McCain stood firm and said it would. McCain's judgement on this issue led him to be the Republican Presidential Nominee. He didn't pander for votes he made the decision he knew was right. McCain has a habit of getting things right the first time. Obama might have to take a second shot on picking his VP. Who do you think should be President?

Panic Sets in, Media Clamors for Hillary as Veep

They know I'm right. And now Obama's media cheerleaders have come to the conclusion that the Messiah needs a savior, and her name is Hillary Clinton.

Anderson Cooper nears this conclusion in his piece yesterday at CNN.com.

Still, this should be a huge wake-up call to Obama and the Democrats. From my perspective, Obama needs to introduce a game changer — and fast — before public opinion starts to gel around the notion that he is a phenom who deserves great respect but is not seasoned enough and would be too much of a risk in the Oval Office.

In part, he needs to change the narrative of the campaign — away from the notion that the biggest single problem facing the country — the “transcendent” threat of our time, as McCain argues — is terrorism... Either Democrats persuade the country why they should now take charge or perhaps they aren’t ready to govern after all.

But it can’t stop there. Obama must also introduce a game changer

through the way he signals who will be in the Oval Office with him. After all, no president governs all by himself; the success or failure of an administration also rests heavily on the team he assembles to work at his side.

If he were to surprise the country — and the press — by naming Hillary Clinton as his running mate, he could turn the race upside down... No one else would so galvanize the Democrats, bring a fighter to his side, and send a clear message that an Obama administration would bring experience to solving problems both at home and abroad. Has anyone looked what happened to jobs and wages under Bush vs. Clinton? The comparison is startling. And remember that a quarter of Hillary’s voters still haven’t “come home” to the Democratic column.

Cooper is, I believe, correct that this would be a game-changer. But does anyone think Obama can swallow his significant pride and ask her to join him? Don't forget, he'd be getting Bill too. I wouldn't put anything past someone as greedy for power as Obama is, but this is highly doubtful in my book.

The tide has turned for The Precious, The One, The Eloquent and Elegant and Lithe and Liquid and Cool as a Cucumber - except for those unfortunate stick legs (which explain the sweats on the basketball court).

What happened to Obama’s Midas touch? Was it overkill at Coronation Berlin? The tongue-tied orator this weekend uh-uh-uh-ing before the evangelicals at Saddleback Church, his stumbles replayed all over the Internet? I watched and felt - how could this be? - like I was watching a George Bush press conference, sweating it out and wondering, “Oh no! Doesn’t he know the answer to the question?”

The best part of this is seeing all the buyer's remorse some of his biggest backers are going through.

I can’t say I have Obama remorse. Yet. But I’m nervous. How did he get so annoying? I wish he’d save nuance and sanctimony for senior seminars; give America some straight answers; crack some jokes at his own high-horse expense; convince me he’s up to this and soothe my furrowed, fretful brow.

That’s what McCain’s done lately. It’s working.

McCain is Conservative Enough For Me!

I'm always surprised at people who say McCain isn't conservative enough. He's pro-life although he did support embroyic stem cell research, that really is not an issue anymore because scientists have found they can use adult stem cells. He opposes gay marriage, at least to the point where he thinks it should be a State's right issue. He's undoubtly a fiscal and foreign policy conservative. (He voted against the Bush tax cuts because they weren't tied to cuts in spending) What's our deficit again? He also says he will appoint conservative judges. So the man's not perfect find me one candidate in the Republican Primary that was perfect. Rudy was pro-choice, Romney was a flip-flopper, Huckabee had problems on the immigration issue and with taxes, maybe Thompson, but he didn't seem to really want the job.

I want to talk about the two issues that McCain as problems on with conservatives. I'll start with the environment. Basically people say he's bought into the global warming hysteria. That he will cause businesses to go out of business or cut jobs and raise prices by mandating new laws about emissions. Or what has become know as a cap and trade policy. Basically this law would require every business to stay under a certain amount of admissions. However if a business needed to go over the mandated amount all it would have is find a business that was under the amount and buy their extra emissions credits. This encourages companies to stay under the limit so they can have extra to sell.

I don't know if their is global warming and to tell the truth I don't much care. The way I see it's in our interest to reduce pollution global warming or no global warming. If not, were eventually going to have smog in most of our major cities, and I don't know about you, but I kinda like being able to breath. The same goes for investing in alternative energies. It's just better for the enviroment as a whole. The fact it's in our national interest not to send money to Venezuela and Saudi Arabia just bolester's the case that we should use less oil. I'm still for drilling for our own oil as well. Mostly due to the fact that it might take awhile to get the other forms of energy to be efficient and affordable enough for people to use. I don't want oil to get so high that people can't go to work, and force change like some of my democratic friends.

Now on to the other issue conservatives have a problem with McCain on illegal immigration. Their will be a immigration bill signed by the next President of the United States. The question do you want it to be a blanket amnesty bill, which is what Obama would sign, or do you want the comprehensive plan that McCain would sign. I know, I know you don't want either. The comprehensive plan is amnesty. No what Reagan signed was amnesty. McCain's plan has some penalites for entering the country illegally and would also have the affect of finishing the wall on the border. I do agree that if their not going to build the wall there's no point in passing this bill because we would need another one in twenty years. There's also no way we get the wall built if Obama is President. So we build the wall first then pass an immigration bill to take care of this problem for the last time. Or we could pass the bill and have it go into affect on the day the wall on the border with Mexico is completed. I've heard some stats recently saying that illegal crossings have dropped significantly recently. Even if you still don't like McCain on either issue their is no doubt that he would be better on both than Obama. Obama is against drilling, or he was against it before he was for it. I feel sure he'll be against it again soon so no need to worry. Obama is one of those Democrats who wants oil prices to hit $200 a barrel so he can put all of the money into finding alternative energies while we suffer. As I've said Obama would impose a blanket amnesty bill. Also if Obama passes an amnesty bill it could very well end the Republican Party. It's going to be hard to win elections with 90% of both blacks and hispanics voting for Democrats. Actually it wouldn't be possible to win an election under those conditions. So decide now vote for McCain and get 80% of want you want, or vote for Obama get 0% and bring an end to the Republican Party, your call.

Obama sends 68 year old man to fight Sean Hannity.

Update: There was some misinformation about this subject last night, hopefully now everything is correct.

Sean Hannity will face the man that Barack Obama said would tear him up, Truman Burgess Sunday at 9pm on Hannity's America. Burgess is a retired General Motors worker. Obama made the comment at an event, "I might have to put Mr. Burgess on Fox News. I'll put Mr. Burgess up against Sean Hannity, He'll tear him up." Obama thought he was joking but Hannity didn't think it was funny and will have Mr. Burgess on Hannity and Colmes tonight.

Wow even I feel bad for Mr. Burgess. Hannity will have control of the show. Burgess should've at least made sure he was facing Hannity in a semi-neutral setting like The Fox Report with Shepard Smith. Good luck Mr. Burgess looks like your another person Obama has thrown under the bus. Maybe Obama will do the right thing and sub for you at the last minute, but I doubt it.

Obama: Have we ever Seen a More Thin-Skinned Candidate?

Calm down, I said 'thin-skinned.' We can still say that, right?

Barack Obama reacted in an extraordinarily defensive manner to a simple question from a Nevada reporter recently. From Hot Air:

RALSTON: I guess what the American people want to know though Senator, is what is the real difference between you and John McCain. You are running this ad tying him to the industry saying that he has taken all of these contributions, but as you well know there is a story out today about how you supported the Dick Cheney bill and he opposed it. That bill gave subsidies to the oil and gas companies, John McCain opposed the bill saying those are tax breaks for those companies, Barack Obama favored it.

SEN. OBAMA: Hold on a second Jon, I thought I was talking to you instead of debating John McCain, but I am happy to let you serve as his proxy. The fact of the matter is that I supported that energy bill saying at the time that those tax breaks were wrong but also recognizing that this was the largest investment in alternative energy in history. And that it was important for us, for the solar industry to get off the ground in places like Nevada, for to get wind kicked off the ground, that that was something that we had to do and I immediately said during that time and subsequently that we should strip out those tax breaks for oil companies. I would point out that in December of last year, we had a vote to strip out those tax breaks for oil companies, there was one Senator that did not vote on that measure, and that was John McCain.

Absolutely stunning. A reporter asks a valid question, and Obama accuses him of serving as John McCain's proxy? Perhaps Barry is far too inexperienced to remember these days, but it used to be considered the job of the media to ask the difficult questions of our political leaders. He berates a man fr simply doing his job. Obama seems afraid of any real debate on the issues. He apparently envisions a future where he eloquently proclaims his latest positions on the issues of the day (using a prepared speech, of course) and then goes off into his White House without answering questions, while Congress thanks him with a hearty "heil, mein Fuhrer" and goes off to implement his orders.

In the rest of the interview, Ralston presses Obama on his policy reversals and asks him how voters can trust him not to shift again for political reasons. In Nevada, the proposed nuclear waste storage facility at Yucca Mountain remains a highly controversial topic, and Ralston wonders aloud when Obama will change his mind and support it — a killer for him in Nevada. Obama gets offended at the suggestion:

SEN. OBAMA: John, don’t put words in my mouth or anticipate what I am going to do. I’ve been opposed to Yucca Mountain from the start so if the suggestion is that John McCain who is in favor of Yucca right now should get a pass on that.

He was opposed to telecom immunity at the start, supported public financing at the start, thought the surge would create more violence at the start, and so on, and so on. “Don’t anticipate what I am going to do?” No one can anticipate what he will do — that’s the problem.

That's the way Obama wants it. We are not to anticipate what he will do, we are to humbly accept his greater wisdom whenever he chooses to give it, without question.

American troop deaths in July at an all time low.

I realize I'm a little late with this story, but I wanted to make sure I wrote about it. The U.S. lost five Soliders in July. This is the lowest number of troops killed since the begining of the war. Yet another sign this war is coming to an end and that we have emerged victorious. President Bush suggested that this news could allow him to further withdrawl troops before he leaves office. Of course we will have to wait until Petraeus reports to the President in September. Also the Iraqi's will have provincial elections in October. These elections should provide stablity and allow local leaders to be in charge of local affairs. Along with the Iraqi Army taking control of most major millitary Operations, it's looking more and more like the Iraqi's don't need us there anymore.

This may end up being the nail in Obama's coffin. When it becomes obvious that we will be out of Iraq no matter whose President, except for the residual force, and that America has won this war because of the surge. Americans may not want to turn the reigns of our Armed Forces over to someone who opposed the very measure that allowed our troops to return home with honor.

McCain should use Supreme Court to sway wary conservatives.

Despite the fact that McCain has cut into and in some polls eliminated Obams lead, McCain is still having trouble convincing some conservatives to go to the polls on Election Day. I've always known that the Supreme Court could be used to rally these conservatives. However I did not realize the significance of this particular election until I saw a list of the Justices by age on another blog.

There are four justices over seventy years of age: Stevens 88, Ginsberg 75, Scalia, 72 and Kennedy 71. Out of these four only Scalia would be considered conservative. Stevens and Ginsberg the two oldest justices are extreme liberals, and Kennedy is a moderate. While Bush did have a chance to replace two Supreme court Justices they were both conservative O'Conner and Rehnquist. So his replacements while great for Conservatives did not change the balance of the court. However with Stevens being 88 years old there is a significant chance he will retire shortly. Giving conservatives the chance to change the balance of the court under a Mccain Presidency.

The three youngest members of the court are all conservatives. Justices Thomas 60, Alito 58 and Roberts 53 they will probably all be around for the next twenty years. Add two more fifty something conservative Justices to the Court in the next four years and we will control the court for a generation. This could lead to rulings such as the overturning of Roe Vs. Wade, a reserval of the Kelo decision, The court finding there is no constitiutional right to marry (gay marriage) along with a host of other important issues. There is also a chance Kennedy and Scalia both retire if they believe they will be replaced by conservative Justices, not likely but possible.

Let's take a look at this from the opposite view. Let's say Obama wins the election, (my body trembles at the thought) what happens to the court if say Scalia 72 retires. Obama would chose a liberal to replace him. Along with Stevens replacement that would give the liberals control of the court: Ginsberg, Souter, Breyer, Stevens replacement and Scalia's replacement. Ginsberg would probably also retire until such a scenario. Three young liberals Justices who will be there for thirty years each. Gay marriage is declared constitutional, The partial birth abortion ban is overturned, Kelo decision stands. Also with Justice Kennedy likely to be the only Justice to be replaced in the next ten years, under this scenario. Their will be no chance to undue what is done to the Court has a result of this election. To quote George W. Bush, "elections have consequences. "What will the consequences be of this election?
