So far six of the eight marines that have had charges against them involving the Hadith incident have been vindicated. Five of the marines had charges dropped due to lack of evidence. The sixth Lt. Andrew Grayson was acquitted June 5th. Grayson was not charged with the murders. He was instead charged with being part of a cover-up.
Grayson refused to accept a plea deal that would have reduced charges and kept him out of prison, “I was the one that had to look at myself in the mirror. To take the easy way out, you are the one that has to live with that,” he said.
Representive Jack Murtha said shortly after the story came out said that, "Our troops overreacted because of the pressure on them, and they killed innocent civilians in cold blood.” I wonder if Representive Murtha will issue a apology on the House floor? Probably not, it wouldn't be politically expedient.
