Boehner says without McCain "they'd have run over me like a freight train"

Who is Barack Obama?

This election is determining who will run the most powerful country in the world for the next four years. It cannot be decided based on a popularity contest. McCain must get people to see Obama to be the slick slimely politician that got every other competitor kicked off the ballot to become State Senator in Illnois. That was Chicago politics," said John Kass, a veteran Chicago Tribune columnist. "Knock out your opposition, challenge their petitions, destroy your enemy, right? It is how Barack Obama destroyed his enemies back in 1996 that conflicts with his message today. He may have gotten his start registering thousands of voters. But in that first race, he made sure voters had just one choice."
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/05/29/obamas.first.campaign/index.html

Obama became a community organizer in Chicago to further his political career. There is absolutly nothing wrong with that. Unless he tries to pretend like he just wanted to help the poor and the thought of running for office wasn't even on his mind. Which of course he has been doing.

Bobby Rush defeated Barack Obama in the 2000 Democratic Primary for a U.S. House seat. Representative Rush, a former Black Panther, said that Obama wasn't black enough during the campaign. “The accusations were that Obama was sent here and owned by the Jews,” Kindle said. “That he was here to steal the black vote and steal black land and that he was represented by the—as they were called—‘the white man.’ And that Obama wasn’t black enough and didn’t know the black experience, the black community." Also State Sen. Donne Trotter, said Obama was seen as "the white man in blackface."

http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/2007-10-24-3157940059_x.htm

Statements such as these are why Obama alligned himself with people like Rev. Wright and Father Phleger. Obama could not afford to look like he was walking away from the black community, which is exactly what leaving Trinity United would've symbolized, so he stayed in Trinity United even when he heard (in my opinion he had to hear them) the remarks about the U.S. come from the pulpit. He stayed with the church for the same reason he became a community organizer, to further his political career. Some people might consider that smart politics. Others would say that there is something severely wrong with attending a church for political reasons. I'll let you make the call on that. Whatever the reason it doesn't seem like Obama is a "different kind of politican" to me.

Rev. Wright and Father Phleger were not the only controversial people Obama associated with. He also associated with William Ayers a known terrorist you as said that his group Weather Underground did not do enough during their time in operation. Another person Obama has been liked to in Tony Rezko. Obama was part of a land deal with Rezko in which his wife bought a lot next to Obama's house. This allowed the Obamas to acquire their house at a reduced price. Rezko was under indictment at the time of this transaction. Tony Rezko is now a convicted Felon. There are several others however I only have so long to live so if you interested in the other connections go to this site.

According to the National Journal Obama was the country's most liberal senator in 2007. In 2005 he was 16th most liberal and in 2006 he was 10th most liberal. In other words the closer he got to the Democratic Primary the further left he went. Although I'm not sure I'd be voting for the 16th most liberal member either that means there were 84 Senators less liberal in 2005 than Barack Obama. That was before he was even running for President! In contrast Hillary Clinton was the
16th most liberal in 2007. She also got more liberal every year going into the primaries. So it's obvious that Obama is voting based on the political conditions of the moment. He does not make decisions based on convictions like John McCain has done. I think we all know the votes I'm talking about.
http://nj.nationaljournal.com/voteratings/

After all of this I still think the most distrubing thing about Obama is his inexperience and Judgement. I guess the people he has surrounded himself with speaks to his judgement, but his inexperience is also a major problem. Even though most people (according to the early polls) thought Obama won the debate Thursday night. I think McCain should say with the "he doesn't understand" line. Maybe even throw in some comments about him being a freshman or a rookie while he's at it. Eventually that will stick in the mind of the American people. I don't want the guy who delivers the paper to become the editor of the paper overnight, and I don't want Obama to go from freshman Senator to President of the United States overnight. This is the most powerful country in the world. We need someone at the wheel who knows how to handle the ship. Perhaps someone who has been a Captain in the Navy.

Everyone is entitled to the American dream, but it's something you have to work for. Obama wants it handed to him having done nothing to earn it. If Obama becomes President it would be like handing the keys to a new Ferrari to a sixteen year old kid who just got his driver's license. I will just be waiting for the crash and my only question is how much of the country will be destroyed?

If you like this story digg it. http://digg.com/political_opinion/Who_Is_Barack_Obama_11

McCain goes after Obama and his "Chicago Machine"

Hat Tip: Patriot room

Looks like McCain is going to pull out all the stops in order to win this election. He should he's not running for class President. He's running for President of the U.S.

Video of Democrats blocking regulation on Fannie and Freddie

This video is great. It shows while Republicans were warning about the Fannie and Freddie mess the Democrats were saying it's not a problem.

McCain wins debate hands down

I was watching the debate and it looked to me like Obama spent most of the debate angry and looking like he was about to blow. I don't think McCain scored a knockout, but he won a decisive decision. I never really thought it was close when I was watching it, but some of the pundits disagreed with me. Of course the answer comes on Monday and Tuesday of next week when the polls that includes all days since the debate come out. Until then it's all speculation. However I think McCain will be leading on Monday. Especially if there is a deal done on Capitol Hill this weekend. No matter who you think won tonight there will be two more and the VP debate. The debate was very entertaining. Let's do it again! On October 2nd there will be a live blog here during the Presidential debate. Put your e-mail in the comments section if you would like to participate. Even if you've already given it to me put it there anyway.

McCain is right, according to Obama

Join me at the Patriot Room

I'll be over at the Patriot Room with Bill Dupray, and Scott Martin doing a live blog during the debate. The blog opens at 8:45pm. I hope you will come over and join us during the debate.
http://patriotroom.com/

The Debate is on

I'm happy that we will have a debate tonight. I've been looking forward to this since McCain wanted those town halls. I couldn't believe Obama wouldn't accept, but now that I've seen him speak without the promter I know why.

This is the man McCain is debating tonight.

I know I should be writing more article. I just keep finding all of these great video's. This one shows what happens to Obama when they don't let him bring his telepromter. Tonight the country will see it for themselves.

Republicans saw this coming five years ago.

Here's a video that shows the for the last five years Republicans have been concerned with the size of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The video also shows the Democrats blocked us at every turn. Now they blame us for the problem.

Thomas Paine Returns.

Thomas Paine has come back from the dead to aske for help in a 2nd American Revolution. Yet another great video I found today. It's an all video day.

Were All Tied up Again!

After a few days of McCain being down in the polls a gallup poll has it even again.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/107674/Gallup-Daily-Election-2008.aspx

It looks like McCain's decision to leave the campaign trail is resounating with America voters. I hope we have the debate on Friday night, because I've been waiting to see McCain crush Obama for a long time. However McCain will do what he feels is best for the country.

Vote McCain!

This is great video I just found on You Tube. I guess I'm just going video crazy today.

Biden and Obama on Coal

Coal is one of America's most abundant natural resources. It without a doubt needs to be used if we are to get off of Middle Eastern oil. However Obama and Biden only seem to believe this when they are in States that support Coal. We will have to use every resource available to escape the deathlock Middle Eastern Oil has on America. Coal is one of those resources and I want a President who is willing to use that resource at all times, not just when it's politically beneficial to his Campaign.

The "Saudi Arabia" of Coal. Well I'm sure he meant that in a good way.

FDR was President in 1929 and got on TV to address America? What The %#@!

Joe Biden apparently wasn't paying attention in history class. In this clip he claims FDR was President in 1929 when the stock market crashed and he addressed the nation on TV.

There are two problems with this one Herbert Hoover was President in 1929. The other problem is Television had not been invented yet. It didn't come about until 1939 and was unveiled at the world's fair.

I'm keeping a running list of Biden's gaffes. http://thenewconservatives.blogspot.com/2008/09/bidens-gaffes.html
If you know of any I've missed please add them in the comments section and I'll add them to the blog.

President Bush addresses the Nation on the economy

I'm going to be honest. I haven't even watched this video yet. So if there's a streaker or something crazy like that going on behind the President I'm not responsible. Leave comments and tell me what he said. I need to go to bed I'll watch it tomorrow. After that I'll probably add my opinions on this post.

The most interesting part of the speech to me was when the President pointed out we will get most if not all on this money back. Basically we're buying all of these mortages cheap. In a couple of years when the economy recovers we may actually be able to sale them for a profit. While 700 billion dollars is the initial investment it is not the final cost. I thought President Bush should've spent more time explaining that in his speech.

The Congress needs to get this bill done fast. Without it there is a good chance that the economy will go into a recession. I'm not one of these doom and gloomers who believe we are headed for a great depression. In a worse case scenrio I see a 1 to 2 year recession followed by an economic upturn. Bad yes. The Great Depression not even close.

Iraq Parliment Approves Provincial Elections Law.

Iraq's Parliment as approved the greatly anticipated Provincial Election Laws. These laws will allow Iraqi's to vote on Mayors, City Councils, and other local offices. I'm not sure they'll have those titles, but those are the American equivalents.

U.N. envoy Staffan di Mistura, who has shuttled between the political blocs to pressure them to approve the law, said preparations for the vote would begin immediately. "We need 140 to 150 days from the day we receive it in order to complete all the preparations to hold the elections," Faraj al-Haidari said. Much work, including staff training and the selection of voting centers, must be completed, he said.

"Today is an important day for Iraq and democracy as the parliament found a compromise over the election law," he told The Associates Press. "This will help Iraq and Iraqis to express their opinions by voting for their candidates in the provinces."

The Iraqi's have said that they will not be able to hold elections until at least Jan. 31th. So President Bush will not be in office when these elections take place, but I know he'll be watching and smiling back on his Ranch in Texas.

McCain Suspends Campaign, Obama refuses to do the same.

From the Drudge Report

MCCAIN: America this week faces an historic crisis in our financial system. We must pass legislation to address this crisis. If we do not, credit will dry up, with devastating consequences for our economy. People will no longer be able to buy homes and their life savings will be at stake. Businesses will not have enough money to pay their employees. If we do not act, ever corner of our country will be impacted. We cannot allow this to happen.

Last Friday, I laid out my proposal and I have since discussed my priorities and concerns with the bill the Administration has put forward. Senator Obama has expressed his priorities and concerns. This morning, I met with a group of economic advisers to talk about the proposal on the table and the steps that we should take going forward.I have also spoken with members of Congress to hear their perspective.

It has become clear that no consensus has developed to support the Administration' proposal. I do not believe that the plan on the table will pass as it currently stands, and we are running out of time.

Tomorrow morning, I will suspend my campaign and return to Washington after speaking at the Clinton Global Initiative. I have spoken to Senator Obama and informed him of my decision and have asked him to join me.

I am calling on the President to convene a meeting with the leadership from both houses of Congress, including Senator Obama and myself. It is time for both parties to come together to solve this problem.

We must meet as Americans, not as Democrats or Republicans, and we must meet until this crisis is resolved.I am directing my campaign to work with the Obama campaign and the commission on presidential debates to delay Friday night's debate until we have taken action to address this crisis.

I am confident that before the markets open on Monday we can achieve consensus on legislation that will stabilize our financial markets, protect taxpayers and homeowners, and earn the confidence of the American people. All we must do to achieve this is temporarily set politics aside, and I am committed to doing so.

Following September 11th, our national leaders came together at a time of crisis. We must show that kind of patriotism now. Americans across our country lament the fact that partisan divisions in Washington have prevented us from addressing our national challenges. Now is our chance to come together to prove that Washington is once again capable of leading this country.

Obama has refused to suspend his campaign saying that we can do two things at once.

Once again McCain shows he is willing to put his country ahead of becoming President. This is the same man who supported the surge in Iraq when almost no one else did. When Obama said the surge wouldn't work McCain stood firm and said it would. McCain's judgement on this issue led him to be the Republican Presidential Nominee. He didn't pander for votes he made the decision he knew was right. McCain has a habit of getting things right the first time. Obama might have to take a second shot on picking his VP. Who do you think should be President?

Dems cave on offshore drilling.

The Democrats are letting the offshore drilling ban that has been in place for twenty-five years expire. "If true, this capitulation by Democrats following months of Republican pressure is a big victory for Americans struggling with record gasoline prices," said House GOP leader John Boehner of Ohio. The Democrats tried to work out a partial appeal, but President Bush had promised a veto.

The U.S. Interior Department says there is an estimated 18 billions barrels of oil off the intercontiential shelf.

Seriously is there anything the Democrats in the Congress will stand for. Just from a political point of view it's kinda embarrassing when you keep getting your butt kicked by a President with a 30% approval rating.

read more here: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,426764,00.html

Just to be clear the democrats are betting Obama will win this election. If he does we will not have drilling off our coastline. However if their gamble backfires and McCain becomes President. Let the drilling begin Jan 20, 2009.

Where Scott Martin made his mistake.

The article I'm referring to is: Observation Skills do not Equal Racism.

Since this is my blog I am responsible for everything that appears here. The most recent post from my friend Scott Martin made me uncomfortable until I figured out where I think he made his mistake. I've decided to post a response. Here it is.

This article made me quezy the first time and saw it, and the second time. However after reading the article several times I figured out where the problem was. First off Scott is not a racist. However in this case he is operating on a false premise. That premise being that because 80% of white people did not cite violence as applying to the African-American population they don't think violence is a problem in the African-American population, or that they are afraid to say it's a problem. Same with 89% not citing irresponsiblity.

Scott is pointing out that these are in fact problems in the African-American community. Which You, Me, Bill Cosby, Barack Obama, and Bill O'Reilly should all agree is true. However the question asked wasn't which of these are problems in the African American community. The question was which one of these describe African Americans? If you ask me if African Americans are violent I'd say no. Most African Americans are not violent. Most African Americans aren't irresponsible. However if you asked me if violence and irresponsiblity are problems in the African American Community I'd say yes. I believe most people would including most African Americans. Admittly it's sematics, but in this case the sematics happened to be very important and I believe Mr. Martin got them wrong.

Observation Skills do not Equal Racism

For more from Scott Martin visit Conservatism Today.

The media is attempting to make racism the key factor when Obama loses this year's presidential election. Don't buy it. From the Trunk Report:

Racism is one of the most overhyped problems in America and a tool of the liberal elite to coerce people into their thinking. Most Americans could care less if Obama is black but they do care about his brand of political philosophy. I refuse to accept that mainstream America holds this level of radical racial misgivings. I have highlighted important statements from the Breitbart article that I think are interesting.

More than a third of all white Democrats and independents—voters Obama can’t win the White House without—agreed with at least one negative adjective about blacks, according to the survey, and they are significantly less likely to vote for Obama than those who don’t have such views.

Given a choice of several positive and negative adjectives that might describe blacks, 20 percent of all whites said the word “violent” strongly applied. Among other words, 22 percent agreed with “boastful,” 29 percent “complaining,” 13 percent “lazy” and 11 percent “irresponsible.” When asked about positive adjectives, whites were more likely to stay on the fence than give a strongly positive assessment.

I agree with Trunk that racism is way over-hyped in America and "a tool of the liberal elite to coerce people into their way of thinking." That is why it is so puzzling to see from his response that he has allowed the liberal elite to coerce him into their thinking on this issue. After noting the numbers above, Trunk says:

Where did they get their sample, the hills of West Virginia? If it is true, I am kind of miffed at these crackers. Who cares about color, give me Thomas Sowell, Clarence Thomas or Michael Steele any day.

Nobody said anything about caring about color, these people were just asked to pick adjectives that might apply to a general population. And the fact that so few people picked these adjectives tells me that the media has succeeded in making people uncomfortable simply noting what they know and what they see.

Stereotypes exist for a reason, and they aren't bad when used for what they are worth. And blacks and whites, while getting closer in some ways, still have very different cultures in America. And they are raised very differently, blacks often without a father figure and with less of a focus on education. To think this doesn't impact what many people eventually become is ridiculous.

Let's look at the adjectives. 20% said violent. Let's look at our nations prisoners. Blacks are 9 times more likely to be imprisoned than whites, and lest one think this is a result of racist conservative policies, the difference is much larger in the more liberal states. Is it wrong to assume that there is a bigger problem with violence in the black community than among whites? Who are these brain-dead 80% that said no?

11% said irresponsible. Nearly 70% of black children are born illegitimately, compared to around 30% of whites. The irresponsibility of black males has been cited as a major problem in the black community by Barack Obama, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. 58% of blacks, compared with 23% of whites, are raised by single parents. What is wrong with the 89% of people who didn't see irresponsibility as a problem in the black community? They have been beaten down by a media that refuses to talk straight about the issue.

22% said boastful. The other 78% apparently don't watch the NFL, NBA, MLB or listen to Barack Obama take credit for things he had nothing to do with. Most white people I know grew up in a household where if they ever reacted like Terrell Owens does after scoring a TD, they would have been told that you don't taunt opponents, that you act like you've been there before, and whipped like Secratariat coming down the home stretch.

Let's face it, there are differences between the black community and the white community in America. We should accept it and work on changing it, not burying our heads in the sand and acting like it's racist to point them out.

And it shouldnt affect your vote. Every person is an individual and needs to be treated as such.

Go ahead, call me a racist. I moved to Phoenix from Wisconsin a week after my best friend was killed in a bar far by a racist tool who was upset that my friend had the audacity to be black and publicly kiss his girlfriend, who was white. That is racism. Observation of the facts as they are today is not.

And as for racism being the difference in this election if Obama loses, one candidate expects to win 90% or more of the votes from one race. Hint: it isn't the white guy.

Obama says McCain doesn't have executive experience

Watch CBS Videos Online

Updated: 8/22/08 8:26pm

On 60 minutes tonight Obama said they he and McCain had the exact same about of executive experience. The comment comes around the 30 second mark on this video. Sorry Senator Obama, but I beg to differ.

McCain's combat duty began in 1967 when he was thirty years old. He was almost killed later that year. Lieutenant Commander McCain was almost killed when a Zuni rocket discharged on the flight deck. Of the USS Forestal here escaped from his jet and helped another man escape before the explotion. After this tragedy McCain volunteered to serve on the USS Oriskany.

On October 26 1967 McCain went down in Hanoi and was taken Prisoner by the Viet-cong. He served two years in solidary confinement. He was offered release but refused because their were others who had been POW's longer. August of 68 is when a prolong series of torture began. He was beaten every two hours! His injuries has left him unable to raise his arms above his head. McCain was released on March 14, 1973 after serving five and a half years has a POW.

When John McCain came back to America he received rehab for his injuries and attended the War College in 1976 he became a commanding officer of a training squad in Florida. The squad won a Meritorious Unit Commendation.

In 1977 McCain served as the Navy's liason to the U.S. Senate According to McCain, this was the begining of McCain's political career. McCain retired from the Navy in 1981 has a Captain. He had received 17 Millitary rewards: The Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star and Navy Commendation Medal were just a few of them.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McCain#Early_life_and_military_career.2C_1936.E2.80.931981

So McCain was a Lieutenant Commander and a Captain. After receiving some comments saying this shouldn't qualify has executive experience I thought I should find out what the responsiblities for these ranks were.

A Lieutenant Commander is a senior department officer on a large ship or shore installation. They may also be commanding officer or executive officer (second-in-command) of a smaller ship or installation. Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) is a junior officer rank, with the pay grade of O-4. Lieutenant Commander ranks above Lieutenant and below commander. Lieutenant Commander is equivalent to the rank of Major in the other uniformed services. The Lieutenant Commander is the most senior of the junior officer ranks.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lieutenant_Commander_(United_States)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lieutenant_Commander

Captain (CAPT) is a senior officer rank, with the pay grade of O-6. It ranks above Commander and below Rear Admiral (lower half). It is equivalent to the rank of Colonel in the other uniformed services. Navy Captains may also fill important senior staff positions or have shore based command assignments, such as commanding officer of a naval station, naval air station, naval support activities, specialized centers or commanders of test wings or training air wings.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_(United_States)

John McCain was an officer in the U.S. navy for 14 years. He trained men and gave orders that entire time. He made decisions that other men had to follow and he had these men's lives in his hands. Has an officer he was also responsible for setting an example for his men to follow. If that doesn't count has executive experience I must not understand the what the term means.

I guess Obama once again forgot about McCain's military record when he was speaking on 60 minutes. Obama seems to forget about McCain's military record frequently. It's come to the point I no longer believe it's an accident. I believe that Obama is intentionally ignoring McCain's military record because he doesn't have one of his own.

Does not having served make someone unfit to be President? Absolutely not. Just as simply being in the military does not make someone qualified to be President. However saying someone with 14 years of executive experience in our military has the same amount of executive experience has a Freshman Senator who served has a community organizer and a State Senator is absurd. If Obama really believes McCain has no executive experience that alone should disqualify him from becoming our next President.

Son of Tennessee State Rep is the hacker, and yes he's a democrat.

Looks like it took them all of one day to track down the hacker. Like I said in my post yesterday, I hope you have a good lawyer. David Kernell son of Tennessee State Rep Mike Kernell (D) is the hacker. They tracked him down by his e-mail address which is now posted all over the internet. Oh the irony. Here it is
rubico10@yahoo.com feel free to send him your thoughts on the situation. Although by now he's probably closed the account. His father's information is also all over the net. I'll show a little class and not post that information here although you can get it in about 100 other places.

Believe it or not the kid didn't seem to realize the seriousness of the action until after the deed was done. It wasn't until after he broke into Palin's account that he realized the seriousness of the offense."it finally set in, THIS internet was serious business," he wrote. "yes I was behind a proxy, only one, if this shit ever got to the FBI I was fucked, I panicked."
http://mccainpalin2008.blogspot.com/2008/09/they-got-him-david-kernell-is-hacker.html

I'm sure the mainstream media will pick up on this story tomorrow. After they do maybe some more info will come out. If there is anything more to this story I'll report on it then.

Socialized Medicine is Bad for America

For more by Scott Martin, visit Conservatism Today.

There are plenty of good reasons why socialized health care would be a disaster for America that have been covered by many people. From lack of choices, to poor quality, to waiting lines, to increase in government control over our lives, and on and on. I'd rather illustrate my biggest reason for opposing socialized medicine with a personal story. To me, socialism of any kind kills the American spirit.

Six years ago, a series of events changed the course of my life. I am fully convinced that I would not be the person I am today had they not occurred, and had I not responded to them the way I did. Let me start somewhere near the beginning.

I was 26-years old and working as a bill collector in 2001; I was pretty good at the job and made a good living, but I hated it. In the past few years I had gone from being a GM at McDonald's to the same job with Arby's to a short-lived stint in financial planning to this. I had done well at every job I had ever had, but had eventually set all my bridges ablaze like General Sherman on his march. It was at this time that my wife and I made the decision that I should go back to college to do what I always should have been doing, which is writing for a living.

What does this have to do with socialized medicine? Hang with me a minute. When I quit my job to go back to school, I lost my health insurance. I went to my old financial planning company (which was affiliated with AIG, of all places) and got an application for health insurance. And then I signed up for classes. And that application sat on my desk. And it sat. And it sat.

I went back to school, and was enjoying my learning like never before. And still that application for health insurance sat on my desk. Why? Certainly not because my wife didn't remind me to fill it out and send it in often enough. Perhaps, because as someone highly suited for the (now deceased) field of journalism, I don't do anything until a solid deadline is looming. Perhaps because I was young and felt good and saw no reason to waste money on something that I wasn't going to need in the near future. Either way, on my desk the application sat.

Eight months after losing my insurance as an employee, I awoke in the middle of the night. I couldn't move. I had this godawful pain in my stomach, and even breathing hurt. I awoke my wife, and it took us about 20 minutes to get me in the car to go to the hospital. I will never forget the pain I experienced for the rest of that night, nor the lessons that were to come from it.

At the hospital, we learned I needed to have my gall bladder removed. It was the size of a baseball, the doctor said. We told him I had no insurance, and since this is America, I was treated anyways. He told us we would be looking at around $10,000 for the procedure, and we were in no position to decline. 10K was not something we could readily afford, but in this case we would have to liquidate my wife's 401K. We would make it. And we had no choice.

I'm not sure exactly when we got the final bill, but the $10,000 figure had somehow become $32,000. I do remember laying in the hospital, recovering, and hearing Sean Hannity on the radio talking about socialized health care.

In my vicodine-addled state, I still recall thinking for a fleeting moment that if only we had socialized medicine in the United States, I wouldn't be worried about having to quit school and get a job. In this drug-induced state, I was tempted by the illusion that is socialism of any kind, and that, more and more, is found in today's liberalism.

But almost immediately my mind found release from the temptation. I asked myself some questions:

Who's fault is this? Clearly, it was my fault, and only my fault, that I was not insured. I had put off something in favor of spending the money on something else. I had made a choice. And a bad one, indeed.

Why should the American taxpayer pay for my stupidity? Why should the doctor? Why should anyone, involuntarily? There was no rational answer to these questions. I needed to pay it myself, or I needed some voluntary help.

What country did I live in? The good-old US of A. We Americans are known for overcoming difficult situations, for our goodness to those in need and for the opportunity we have to make of our lives whatever we are able to freely do. I had no reason to despair. This would be a minor setback at worst.

So I made a plan. As a former bill collector, I began negotiations with the hospital, and learned that I should be able to get the bill cut in half. With my abilities and knowledge of the system, I should actually be able to do more. I prayed a lot to find a solution. Through the whole process, my wife and I continued to give above and beyond the Biblical tithe (more than 10% of our income) to charity, as we had done for a couple of years. We never stopped believing that there was a better way out.

After a few months, I thought I was going to be able to settle my bill for about $14,000. That seemed a small price to pay for my mistake, and was almost exactly what the hospital would have received had I been insured. (Insurance companies pay far less than the actual billing cost of any procedure.) But, at the last moment, the hospital suggested I apply for a financial hardship.

Let me tell you, there was no hardship, other than my own stupidity. My wife earned enough money that I could afford to go to school and not have to work. Yet our savings didn't reflect my wife's new-found increase in income. But, believing we had been given another shot at this, I filled this application out immediately. Less than one week later I was notified that a private charity, a church I was not affiliated with, had paid our bill in full. It was, literally, a gift from God.

And I saw that my wife and I had helped bring it about. We never wavered in our belief, we never stopped being charitable, and we never gave up on our conservative ( personal freedom-based) outlook on life. In that fleeting moment where I considered succumbing to the easy secuction of socialism, I nearly lost what made me a free human being. I nearly lost my belief in God as the gaurantor of my prosperity and my well-being, and gave it over to man. But I didn't. It made me stronger when I rejected it. And God gave me the way out of my problem when I trusted in Him.

And this is where the Hillary's and the Obama's and the Biden's don't understand what is unique about America. They preach community, and a giving spirit, but they believe government should do this, not themselves as free people. They would, either unknowingly or out of thirst for power over our lives, destroy community in America.

We have seen in the past week that Obama and Biden talk the talk, but even though they earn 2-3 times more than my family does, they give 20 times less than we do. They don't walk the walk. That's what socialism does to people, it tells us that government is our master, and that government meets needs, not free people under God.

But they are wrong. The United States of America is the most giving country in the world, because of our freedom. That would die forever with the adoption of socialized medicine.

Alexander Hamilton once said, "A nation which can prefer disgrace to danger is prepared for a master, and deserves one!"

This realization has changed my life. I took control of it, and began planning to be more than I thought I could be. When I graduated this Spring, I resisted the easy choice of getting a job at a newspaper making a minimum salary and working for a master who would control what I could express. I'm an American, and my rights come from God, as established in our founding documents. I can make it myself, with God's help, and while doing so I can give to help others who truly can't make it by themselves. And so I have.

Socialized medicine might be OK for the Brits and the French and the Canadians. Their Constitutions don't guarantee freedom under God. They have spent most of the last century preparing themselves for a master, and they are well suited for one.

But it is my belief that Americans are not yet pussified enough to think that they need government to make them whole. The American spirit, that gift of God and of a mostly-free country, is alive and well. And I trust and pray that we will prove that to the rest of the world once again, and reject the rest of the world's desire that we bow to a government under the leadership of an Obamessiah who promises to right all our wrongs, but doesn't explain how it will be the destruction of us as a free nation. Instead, we will continue to not-so-bitterly cling to a government of and for the free people of the United States of America, under God.

Biden says city council harder job than Senator.

Start that the Biden gaffe clock over again. On this clip Joe Biden says that being a city council member is harder than being a Senator. I wonder if Obama is wishing he picked Hillary. The clip is 12 secs long so go ahead and see it for yourself.

Left wing crazies hack into Palin's e-mail account.

What is wrong with these people? An article in Gawker.com post pictures and private e-mail exchanges from the account. It doesn't look like there is anything that will do damage to the McCain campaign in the e-mails. I'm sure CNN and NBC are heartbroken. The McCain campaign issued a statement saying, "This is a shocking invasion of the Governor's privacy and a violation of law, the matter has been turned over to the appropriate authorities and we hope that anyone in possession of these emails will destroy them. We will have no further comment." The statement was made by McCain campaign manager Rick Davis.

Screen shots of the e-mails were posted on Gawker.com. A message posted on Gawker.com said, "Here are the screenshots of the emails saved before the account went dark, along with the contact list. It’s newsworthy and we will not be taking it down!" the site declares.

They are now complaining that Palin has deleted the e-mail address. "Gawker complained that Palin has since “deleted” the account, and suggested she was trying to “destroy evidence.”

The FBI has started an investigation into the matter. They will be working with the Secret Service. I hope whoever did this has a good lawyer

O.K. people this is just getting ridiculous now. We get it you don't like Sarah Palin. To be fair you hate all Republicans. We get it. However this only hurts your cause. The more stupid and crazy things you do the better for us. So please keep saying McCain's not a war hero, make fun of him because he can't type due to his war injuries, harass a pregant teenage girl, Say that Sarah Palin's down syndome baby isn't hers. Media people please keep making fun of McCain for being old, Calling Sarah Palin an idiot every chance you get. Asking her questions that you can't even explain then saying she didn't understand what you meant. Finally please, please continue your sexist comments about her having too many children to be Vice President. We'll just continue moving up in the polls and win the election in November.

McCain Predicted Freddie/Fannie Debacle Two Years Ago

For more by Scott Martin, visit Conservatism Today.

While Barack Obama lined his own pockets. To quote somebody, "Next time call John McCain."

From HotAir:

Mr. President, this week Fannie Mae’s regulator reported that the company’s quarterly reports of profit growth over the past few years were “illusions deliberately and systematically created” by the company’s senior management, which resulted in a $10.6 billion accounting scandal.

The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight’s report goes on to say that Fannie Mae employees deliberately and intentionally manipulated financial reports to hit earnings targets in order to trigger bonuses for senior executives. In the case of Franklin Raines, Fannie Mae’s former chief executive officer, OFHEO’s report shows that over half of Mr. Raines’ compensation for the 6 years through 2003 was directly tied to meeting earnings targets. The report of financial misconduct at Fannie Mae echoes the deeply troubling $5 billion profit restatement at Freddie Mac.

The OFHEO report also states that Fannie Mae used its political power to lobby Congress in an effort to interfere with the regulator’s examination of the company’s accounting problems. This report comes some weeks after Freddie Mac paid a record $3.8 million fine in a settlement with the Federal Election Commission and restated lobbying disclosure reports from 2004 to 2005. These are entities that have demonstrated over and over again that they are deeply in need of reform.

For years I have been concerned about the regulatory structure that governs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac–known as Government-sponsored entities or GSEs–and the sheer magnitude of these companies and the role they play in the housing market. OFHEO’s report this week does nothing to ease these concerns. In fact, the report does quite the contrary. OFHEO’s report solidifies my view that the GSEs need to be reformed without delay.

I join as a cosponsor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190, to underscore my support for quick passage of GSE regulatory reform legislation. If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole.

I urge my colleagues to support swift action on this GSE reform legislation.

I really don't know what to add to this. If people think Barack Obama is better equipped to take on special interests than John McCain, the are sadly mistaken. In fact, Obama was the 2nd most grateful beneficiary of this shadily-run operation.

It (McCain's bill) never made it out of committee. Chris Dodd, then the ranking member of the Banking Committee and now its chair, was in the middle of receiving preferential loan treatment from Countrywide Mortgage, one of the companies gaming the system in the credit crisis. Meanwhile, Barack Obama took hundreds of thousands of dollars from the lobbyists McCain mentions in this speech, making him the #2 recipient of Fannie/Freddie money.

Speaking of bills, and Obama... (Crickets chirping)

Obama advisor refuses to apologize for making fun of McCain's war injuries

I wrote an article the other day giving the Obama campaign the benefit of the doubt on the ad about McCain not being able to use a keyboard. Apparently I shouldn't have. In this interview an Obama advisor continuely ignores that fact that McCain can't use the computer because of his war injuries. Bill Hemmer gives this guy about five chances to apologize for that part of the ad, but he keeps digging the hold deeper. He basically is saying it doesn't matter why McCain can't use a computer.

Wow the Obama campaign is imploding! Ever since the annoucement of Palin the Obama camp as made one major mistake after another. It seems like every state is headed McCain's way. I've said since it was clear that Obama was going to be the nominee that it was going to be an eighties style beat-down. Anyone unclear on what I mean goggle Electorial College Map 1980, 1984, or 1988. Watch the video and you'll see what I mean.

Obama tries to delay U.S. troops from leaving Iraq?

An article written in the New York Post today contends while campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of America's military presence.

The article was written by Amir Taheri. Taheri is an Iranian born journalist that now lives in Europe. He was head of Iran's main daily paper Kayhan from
1972-79. He was written for several other newspapers, London's Sunday Times, Pakistan Daily Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian and The Daily Mail. He was also a member of the executive board of the International Press Institute. Taheri has been a columnist for many papers, far more than I'm willing to list here. Currently he is commentator for CNN. Taheri has interviewed many world leaders including five U.S. Presidents.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amir_Taheri

According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.

"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.

http://www.nypost.com/seven/09152008/postopinion/opedcolumnists/obama_tried_to_stall_gis_iraq_withdrawal_129150.htm?&page=0

Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops - and that it was in the interests of both sides not to have an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its "state of weakness and political confusion."

"However, as an Iraqi, I prefer to have a security agreement that regulates the activities of foreign troops, rather than keeping the matter open." Zebari says.

Though Obama claims the US presence is "illegal," he suddenly remembered that Americans troops were in Iraq within the legal framework of a UN mandate. His advice was that, rather than reach an accord with the "weakened Bush administration," Iraq should seek an extension of the UN mandate.

While in Iraq, Obama also tried to persuade the US commanders, including Gen. David Petraeus, to suggest a "realistic withdrawal date." They declined.

Obama has made many contradictory statements with regard to Iraq. His latest position is that US combat troops should be out by 2010. Yet his effort to delay an agreement would make that withdrawal deadline impossible to meet.

Supposing he wins, Obama's administration wouldn't be fully operational before February - and naming a new ambassador to Baghdad and forming a new negotiation team might take longer still.

By then, Iraq will be in the throes of its own campaign season. Judging by the past two elections, forming a new coalition government may then take three months. So the Iraqi negotiating team might not be in place until next June.

Then, judging by how long the current talks have taken, restarting the process from scratch would leave the two sides needing at least six months to come up with a draft accord. That puts us at May 2010 for when the draft might be submitted to the Iraqi parliament - which might well need another six months to pass it into law.

Thus, the 2010 deadline fixed by Obama is a meaningless concept, thrown in as a sop to his anti-war base.

Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and the Bush administration have a more flexible timetable in mind.

According to Zebari, the envisaged time span is two or three years - departure in 2011 or 2012. That would let Iraq hold its next general election, the third since liberation, and resolve a number of domestic political issues.

Even then, the dates mentioned are only "notional," making the timing and the cadence of withdrawal conditional on realities on the ground as appreciated by both sides.

Iraqi leaders are divided over the US election. Iraqi President Jalal Talabani (whose party is a member of the Socialist International) sees Obama as "a man of the Left" - who, once elected, might change his opposition to Iraq's liberation. Indeed, say Talabani's advisers, a President Obama might be tempted to appropriate the victory that America has already won in Iraq by claiming that his intervention transformed failure into success.

Maliki's advisers have persuaded him that Obama will win - but the prime minister worries about the senator's "political debt to the anti-war lobby" - which is determined to transform Iraq into a disaster to prove that toppling Saddam Hussein was "the biggest strategic blunder in US history."

Other prominent Iraqi leaders, such as Vice President Adel Abdul-Mahdi and Kurdish regional President Massoud Barzani, believe that Sen. John McCain would show "a more realistic approach to Iraqi issues."

Obama has given Iraqis the impression that he doesn't want Iraq to appear anything like a success, let alone a victory, for America. The reason? He fears that the perception of US victory there might revive the Bush Doctrine of "pre-emptive" war - that is, removing a threat before it strikes at America.

Despite some usual equivocations on the subject, Obama rejects pre-emption as a legitimate form of self -defense. To be credible, his foreign-policy philosophy requires Iraq to be seen as a failure, a disaster, a quagmire, a pig with lipstick or any of the other apocalyptic adjectives used by the American defeat industry in the past five years.

Yet Iraq is doing much better than its friends hoped and its enemies feared. The UN mandate will be extended in December, and we may yet get an agreement on the status of forces before President Bush leaves the White House in January.

If what is written in this article is to believed then Obama is single handily underminding U.S. foreign policy in Iraq. He is trying to convince the Iraqi's to keep our troops there longer so he can become President. This is a direct contradiction of his stated positions on the campaign trail. He also doesn't want the Iraq and the U.S. to come to an agreement on security either. Why? Because if the U.S. and Iraq come to an agreement before November it will hurt Barack Obama's chances of becoming President. Apparently Obama is so concerned about this election he'll say anything and do anything to accomplish his goal. Even if it means losing a war.

Will the Republicans retake Congress?

Looking at several polls recently it appears the generic congressional ballot which had been in favor of the democrats for all of 07 and most of 08 has tightened. Polls for most of 08 had the Democrats up double digits poised to increase their margains in the House and Senate. Their was even talk of the Democrats having a filibuster proof majority, you need 60 votes to end a filibuster. People were talking about 58 or 59 seats for the dems, throw in liberal Republicans Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins both from Maine and Gordon Smith from Oregon and you'd have all the votes you'd needed.

However, recent polls have seen Republicans surging in the Generic Congressional vote. A USA Today/Gallup poll even has it as a 50-45 edge for Republicans. Every other poll still has the Democrats up around 5 points. The RCP average has it Democrats by 4.2%. An average of all polls taken in July gave Democrats a 12 point advantage on the generic ballot question. What is causing this turn in the Polls? I believe it is the McCain pick of Palin which has united Conservatives and bought many of them who had left back to the Republican Party.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/generic_congressional_vote-901.html#polls

Before the Pick of Palin Obama had a comfortable lead on McCain and many Republicans were thinking of not voting at all. Obama had around an eight point lead on McCain before the convention. Of the last twenty-four polls taken before the RNC McCain led in four and was tied in two others. Obama led in eighteen and was up by at least six points in five of the last six polls taken before the Start of the RNC. However in eleven polls taken since the end of the RNC Obama has led in just two and was tied in one. McCain now holds a 2.1% lead in the Real Clear Politics average.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/us/general_election_mccain_vs_obama-225.html#polls

With this shift in the polls has come a shift in the electorial college. The state polls have all shifted in McCain's favor recently. States like Washington, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania shifting toward McCain could allow the Republicans to pick up some House seats, even if McCain does not carry those states in November.

09/14 Minnesota Leaning Obama »»» Toss Up McCain 227 - Obama 207
09/13 Indiana Toss Up »»» Leaning McCain McCain 227 - Obama 217
09/11 Florida Toss Up »»» Leaning McCain McCain 216 - Obama 217
09/11 North Carolina Leaning McCain »»» Solid McCain 216 - Obama 217
09/11 Georgia Leaning McCain »»» Solid McCain 216 - Obama 217
09/09 North Carolina Toss Up »»» Leaning McCain McCain 189 - Obama 217
09/09 New Jersey Solid Obama »»» Leaning Obama McCain 189 - Obama 217
09/08 Washington Solid Obama »»» Leaning Obama McCain 174 - Obama 217
09/07 Pennsylvania Leaning Obama »»» Toss Up McCain 174 - Obama 217

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/election_2008/electoral_count.html#previous_changes

So with the polls heading in McCain's favor, the Generic Congressional ballot gap closing, and Congress having a 20% job approval rating can the Republicans regain control of Congress in 2008? Republicans are in great shape to pick up seats in the House and Senate. I wouldn't bet against the Republicans retaking Congress in November.

If you enjoy this blog please make a contribution. I'm just hoping to make a few extra bucks for the time I spend keeping this blog up to date. Believe me it's harder than you think.

Sarah Palin's first solo Campaign appearance

College football Saturday a complete bust

My first college football Saturday was a disaster. I left my live chat open for seven hours and never got a single person to comment there. So I'm wondering should I advertise it more and give it one more shot or just give it up and keep focusing on Conservative politics.
I love college football and I would like to make that a part of my blog on Saturdays. I think it's good to have more than one interest. Also it may bring new readers to the site. However judging from the response not many agree with me. Please vote in my poll on the right hand side of the blog to let me know what you think.

Why I never want to have a girl.

This article on Foxnews.com reminds me why I always say I hope I never have a girl.

Angry Dad Attacks Naked Boy in Daughter's Room With Metal Pipe

Saturday, September 13, 2008

DELTONA, Fla. — An angry Deltona father whacked his teenage daughter's boyfriend with a metal pipe after finding the boy naked in his daughter's room.

Authorities say the father, 45, didn't even know his daughter had a boyfriend or that the youngster had been sneaking into the home for more than a year.

When he heard noises coming from his daughter's bedroom Thursday morning and saw a stranger standing naked on the girl's bed, he swung a metal pipe. He then chased the teen out the front door and called police.

The boy was taken to the hospital where doctors closed a head wound with staples.

The father was charged with aggravated battery on a child and bonded out on $10,000.

They charged this man with a crime, for what! If their was a naked guy in my daughter's room I'd swing the pipe first and ask questions later. I don't know any father that wouldn't do the same. He didn't even know that his daughter was seeing this guy so in his mind it was an intruder.

Admittedly the fact his daughter didn't think she could tell her dad she had a boyfriend doesn't speak well for their relationship. Note I said tell him she had a boyfriend, not what she was doing, no father wants to know about that.

I imagine this case will get dropped as soon as everyone calms down. I would imagine the parents of the boy in the hospital probably wanted the father charged, but I hope they drop their complaint. This man did nothing anyone else wouldn't have done in the same situation. Please Lord if I ever have kids make them all boys.

Looks like not every judge in New York is crazy.

"Balan sued supermodel Le Call for $1 million, claiming that he lent her a Jean-Paul Gaultier-designed umbrella — and that she returned it to him in two pieces.

Balan claimed emotional distress and said that the model had intentionally damaged the umbrella."

The judge fined the lawyer $500 for wasting his time. He should fined him $5,000. Lawsuits like this make the case for tort-reform. Can we please stop clogging our system up with every jerk trying to take advantage of a situation to make a quick buck. Balan was actually trying to sue for emotional distress over his broken umbrella.

ABC interview edited to make Palin look bad?

It appears that ABC edited out important segments of some of Sarah Palin's answers. They also used the widely debunked quote about Palin saying the Iraq war was God's will. What Palin actually said was that we should pray that the war is God's will. In other words pray that we are doing to the will of God and not serving ourselves. This is the prayer of almost every religious person I know, without regard to their religion. Here is the complete quote.

"Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God. That’s what we have to make sure that we’re praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God’s plan."

http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/12/abc-edits-out-palin-objection-to-holy-war-question/

Also regarding the question about Bush Doctrine there are several definitions of the doctrine. Bringing Democracy to the Middle East, preemptive war, If you harbor a terrorist you are a terrorist, and American unilateralism. All these are called the Bush Doctrine, so Palin was correct in asking for clarification.

http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/12/palins-definition-of-bush-doctrine-hits-the-gibson-mark/

Now that I have given this information up front I feel comfortable posting the interview. I hope everyone enjoys and feel free to leave comments and donate to my blog.

Sarah Palin sending our troops and her son off to war.

McCain attacked on the View

McCain handle the interview with ease. Aside from the absolutly ridiculous assertion by Goldberg that McCain become President would force her back into slavery. Apparently she's forgoten about the 13, 14, and 15 Amendments of the Constitution. The Amendments that the first Republican President Abraham Lincoln was responsible for. If it was me I would've said something like. No, Whoopi Republicans ended slavery 140 years ago. We also made African Americans citizens, and gave them due process rights.

Joy Beihart asked some questions about separation of church and state that McCain handled flawlessly. She basically implied that if your a Christian your biased against people of every other religion and people who don't have a religion. McCain quickly knocked that assertion down.

Obama makes fun of McCain for not being able to send an E-mail

So Barack Obama ran an ad today saying McCain is out of touch with America. One of the reasons listed was that he can't send an e-mail. While it is true that McCain can't send an e-mail it is because he's phyisicaly inable to so having his fingers broken during his time has a POW. Of course Obama once again failed to do any research. Here is a quote from a Washington Post article from 2000.

"McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain's severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain's encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He's an avid fan - Ted Williams is his hero - but he can't raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball."

I don't think Obama intentionally made fun of McCain's war injuries. The ad does show someone who doesn't think before he speaks. It would've taken me two seconds to think, hmm I wonder if it has something to do with his status of a POW. Then ask one of my staffers, make sure this isn't related to his POW status before we shoot this ad. Obama just assumed that because McCain's an old man that must be the reason he can't use e-mail. Way to offend senior citizens and make fun of McCain's war injuries in one ad. Maybe next time you can make an ad that mocks.... I've been thinking for like five minutes and I can't think of anything worse. If you can leave it in the comments

What I was doing on 9/11

I guess this should've been posted yesterday, but like I said earlier this week I've been extremely busy.

I was running late for school, as usual, I basically got threw on some clothes and jumped in my car. On the radio it said that someone had flew a plane into the World Trade Center. I thought to myself "What an idiot! How do you hit a building? That must be the worst pilot in the world." Has I pulled into the parking place the second plane hit the towers. It was only then I realized what was going on. I said outloud, "Oh my God we're under attack." I got out of my car and walked into school. I kept looking around expecting something to blow up. I don't remember anything about what happened in class that day. I do remember there was a TV in the student lounge, I kept going in there every time I had the chance. I think watching the replay of the towers falling was probably the worst. Listening to the voices of the people watching the towers fall is what really got to me. One voice said "Oh, My God." The other said "Oh no, oh no!" You could hear the terror in their voice.

I also knew what was ahead of us on that day. I understood as did everyone else that this was going to be a long fight. I believed that the attack was just the start of series of attacks the U.S. mainland. I am honestly shocked it's seven years later and we haven't been hit again. No matter what you believe or think about President Bush he has to be given credit for that.

Top Ten Reasons Liberals Hate Palin

TOP TEN REASONS LIBERALS HATE PALIN

9. She's sworn that as soon as she gets to Washington, she's going to cut off the Democrats' balls and put them on eBay.

8. She's an anti-choice extremist who has had five babies and never thought of killing any of them.

And the number one reason liberals hate Palin...

Spare Us More Change.....We've Had Plenty the Last Two Years

This is crossed posted from Smart Girl Politics. I thought it was so good I asked for permission to post it here. I hope everyone agrees with me.
http://smartgirlpolitics.blogspot.com/

In a letter to the editor of the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, Dave Bastl of Manor, PA wrote very simply what I have been trying to put to words for a few months:

George W. Bush has been in office for 71/2 years. For the first six years, the economy was fine. A little over one year ago:

Consumer confidence stood at a 21/2-year high
Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon
The unemployment rate was 4.5 percent
The Dow Jones hit a record high of 14,000-plus
Americans were buying new cars, taking cruises and vacations
overseas-living large!

But Americans wanted "Change." So, in 2006 they voted in a
Democrat Congress. And, yep, we got change alright:

Consumer confidence has plummeted
Gasoline hit $4 a gallon
Unemployment is up to 6.1 percent
Americans have seen their home values drop by trillions of
dollars
1 percent of American homes are in foreclosure
The Dow Jones is probing another low--nearing 11,000--and $2.5
trillion has evaporated from our investment portfolios.

Yep, in 2006 America voted for change! And we got it--a
Democrat Congress led by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

Now the Democrats' candidate for President claims he's gonna
really give us change! Just how much more "change" do you thing you
can stand?

The fact of the matter is that it has been the do-nothing Congress with their pitiful 9% approval rating that have landed us in this current position. I have my own beef with President Bush. The fact that he has approved almost every spending bill this Congress has sent him is aggravating. However, many of the issues occurring today cannot or could not have been changed by Bush alone. Bush does not write bills, Congress does.

What bills have they written? Nothing significant that would help every day citizens. Yes, the bi-partisan Congress passed a stimulus package, but it was too late to stop the downfall. Have they taken ANY steps to reduce our dependency on foreign oil?

Republicans were voted out in 2006 because of the war and corruption. Well, the war is going better, and now the Democrats have the majority on corruption....Senator Dodd, Senator Rengle, Congressman William Jefferson.

Finally, a thought for my friends here in the Ohio Valley and for that matter OH, PA, WV, and MI......who runs your local, county, and state governments? How many of your Congressman and Senators are Democrats? I know this area. These areas have continued to lose jobs and population for decades and in MOST cases, the Democrats have run their governments for DECADES.........To agree with Mr. Bastl above, it's time for change...just not the change Obama offers.

McCain up 10% among likely voters in new Gallup poll

This same poll Maybe more importantly McCain has broken through the 50% threshold. This is extremely bad news for the Obama camp. It appears McCain's call to action resonated with undecideds across the county. I also believe returning to his original Maverick self is having an effect on voters. When I hear McCain talking about stomping out corruption and making pork barrel spenders famous. A chant I first heard at the South Carolina Republican Debate comes to mind, "Mac is Back!"

"McCain leads Democrat Barack Obama by 50%-46% among registered voters, the Republican's biggest advantage since January and a turnaround from the USA TODAY poll taken just before the convention opened in St. Paul. Then, he lagged by 7 percentage points."

"In the new poll, taken Friday through Sunday, McCain leads Obama by 54%-44% among those seen as most likely to vote. The survey of 1,022 adults, including 959 registered voters, has a margin of error of +/— 3 points for both samples."

"McCain has narrowed Obama's wide advantage on handling the economy, by far the electorate's top issue. Before the GOP convention, Obama was favored by 19 points; now he's favored by 3."

Among the findings:

• Before the convention, Republicans by 47%-39% were less enthusiastic than usual about voting. Now, they are more enthusiastic by 60%-24%, a sweeping change that narrows a key Democratic advantage. Democrats report being more enthusiastic by 67%-19%.

• Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, a national unknown before McCain chose her for the ticket 10 days ago, draws a strong reaction from voters on both sides. Now, 29% say she makes them more likely to vote for McCain, 21% less likely.

Obama was up by 7 points in the same poll when it was taken during a two day period
8/30-31. That means this is a seventeen point bounce for McCain from the Convention. I predicted 15 points so It turns out I was off by a little.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/election2008/2008-09-07-poll_N.htm

Sarah Palin will be interview by Charles Gibson This week.

I guess Palin has come out of "hiding" in Alaska. According to Sarah Palin has granted her first interview to Charles Gibson and the interview will occur later this week. It appears Gibson's decision not the question McCain about Palin's personal family life during the feeding frenzy last week led to him getting the interview. Gibson interviewed McCain during the convention and never gave asked about Palin's family, although he did ask about Policy positions and experience. It looks like the interview will take place this Thursday.
http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5h21ZbzgPbTVRftcJPT5vkHkonY5QD93256F03

I have no doubt that Palin will handle herself very well in these interviews. She is very intelligent and should have no trouble answering policy questions. I'm also sure this interview will get huge ratings so probs to ABC for that.

I'm expecting a fair interview from Charles Gibson. I've never known him to be unfair to either party. I'm sure all the other media hounds are second guessing their attempts to belittle her and her family.

I would not expect to see Palin on NBC, or CNN due to their bias coverage of her right after the annoucement. I also don't think the American people will have a problem with her skiping those forums as long as she does interviews on the other networks, and answers questions at some events. Palin has bought life to the McCain campaign. If McCain wins this election I believe this pick will have a lot to do with it.

Hat tip: Blogs for John McCain

McCain 48 Obama 45 says Gallup

This poll does not take into account McCain's speech on Thursday night. This is the second poll I've seen that gives McCain the lead and I'm starting to be excited. I'm hoping McCain will top fifty percent in the polls that come out on Monday. It looks like the debates are the only thing that separate McCain from the White House.

McCain's Speech at the RNC

I decided to repost this because the version I had posted kept starting everytime I visited the site, and it was gettting really annoying.

CNN biased against Palin? This video leaves no doubt.

I took this right off of CNN.com. If you don't feel CNN is biased and sexist after watching this piece of crap, there is just no hope for you. Of course this will backfire in their face just like all the other ridiculously stupid attacks on Sarah Palin.

McCain up 4 points?

A post over at Blogs for John McCain shows a zogby poll that gives McCain a 4 point lead. However this poll also had McCain up before the start of the RNC which I find highly unlikely. I'm going to wait for some more polling before I start celebrating, but I thought you would want to know. Blogs for John McCain can be found on my blog list.

College Football Saturday

I plan to make every Saturday from here on out College football Saturday. I will posting about different games throughout to day. Today as already been very interesting with Ohio State escaping Ohio University 26-14. Ohio State did not put the game away until 5 mins left in the fourth quarter when they ran a punt back for a touchdown. I expect they'll have a better effort next week against USC.
Michigan stuggled against another MAC team Miami-ohio, but they came away with the victory 16-6.

The ACC still looks awful. It took VT until the second half to score a touchdown on Furman, although they did score three in the third quarter. Theat game is now a Final 24-7 VT. Clemson did score in the first quarter and have given up a 100 years to a receiver in the first half It's now 21-7 Clemson in the second. Virginia managed just a field goal against Championship sub divison (1-AA) Richmond in the first. They lead 3-0 in the second. Mississippi is currently leading (20) Wake Forest 14-7 in the 2nd. Clemson gave up 228 years passing in the first half. A citadel receiver has 140 yards receiving. Old Miss leads Wake 14-10 at the half.
That's enough ACC for now. Full disclosure I'm a Clemson fan.
Update
6:30pm
Wake has taken a 27-21 lead on Ole Miss. My tigers finally decided to show up in the second half. They've opened it up against the Citadel. In new news E.Carolina is up 14 on West Virginia in the fourth quarter. I think it may be time to ask what happens if they run the table.
Byu wins after Washington gets Penalized for excessive celebration after a touchdown and misses the extra point. BYU 28-27. I haven't seen the play yet, but I hope it wasn't one of those stupid calls. You know where the guy points to the crowd or pumps his fist and gets a penalty. I hope it was something blatant that the ref just couldn't ignore.
Meanwhile it looks like Virginia is going to score their first touchdown against Richmond, but it's third down inside the Spiders ten. They punched it in Virginia 10 Richmond 0 7:55 in the fourth.
7:07pm
That Wake game gave me a little more faith in the ACC we needed that one badly
Notre Dame just scored to go up 21-13 on San Diego State.
I've heard that the Washington call was one of those ridiculous calls that I was talking about earlier, but I still haven't seen it.
9:30pm
Miami is hanging around with Florida 9-3 gators at the half.
However elsewhere in the ACC Middle Tenn 24 Maryland 14 11:14 left in the game
N.C. State a 34-24 winner over William and Mary.
I just saw the penalty in the BYU-Washington game it was ridiculous. The guy filpped the ball over his shoulder and was called for a 15 yard penalty. The kick ended up being blocked.

McCain camp saves flag from Democratic Convention

Apparently Democrats think the correct way of disposing of flags is by throwing them in the trash. "McCain supporters, claiming they rescued 12,000 miniature American flags from the site of Barack Obama’s nomination acceptance speech last Thursday, redistributed the orphan flags to audience members ahead of a McCain rally in Colorado Springs on Saturday." "We want to find good homes for these flags," radio host Dan Caplis said at the rally, adding that whatever flags remained would be placed at memorials throughout Colorado.

Sorry Sarah I got to help Barack get elected, says Oprah.

Ok so maybe those weren't her exact words, but that's the message.

OPRAH'S STATEMENT: "The item in today's Drudge Report is categorically untrue. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over." In other words after it can't possibly help her get elected has the first woman Vice-President and defeat my man Obama she can come on. "For the record, Barack Obama has been on "Oprah" twice -- in January, 2005 and again in October, 2006 -- before he announced his run for Prez."
http://www.tmz.com/2008/09/05/oprah-to-palin-i-can-pencil-you-in-later/

As she was leaving the DNC last week she commented to a reporter that she "cried her eyelashes off," during Obama's speech. "I think it's the most powerful thing I have ever experienced." She also said of Obama, "He's not an African-American candidate," she said. "He's a candidate for Americans." There is no doubt that Oprah supports Obama, she does so openly. However to deny a woman who has worked her way from the PTA to Governor a chance to have a forum on her show is not only bias, but extremly bad business.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,413186,00.html

Oprah apparently feels it is more important to get Obama elected President than to give her viewers a chance to meet the women who may be that first female to hold executive office in this country's history. I hope if John McCain and Sarah Palin are elected to office that Palin refuses to appear on Oprah when asked. I believe this is a decision Oprah will eventually reget, probably once her ratings drop and they cancel her show.

Power may be out.

Hey everyone a tropical storm is hitting my area and it appears as if my power is about to go out. I don't usually blog on the weekends, Saturday especially, so it shouldn't be a big deal. Hopefully the power isn't down for long.

Palin Bio

Hit tip McCain Palin 2008

Oil down to $105.96, but unemployment up.

"Light, sweet crude for October delivery fell $1.93 to $105.96 a barrel in afternoon trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange, after falling to $105.13, its lowest trading level since early April. Since surging to a record $147.27 a barrel on July 11, crude has dropped by over $40, or more than 27 percent."

While this is great news the bad news is the reason for the increase in Unemployment to 6.1% today. The economy will be the central issue in this campaign. People will have to decide will increasing taxes on businesses make it more likely or less likely that they will hire more people and create jobs.

Yes he did!

McCain drew 38.9 million to Obama's 38.4 million. Looks like there's a new sheriff in town!
http://blog.nielsen.com/nielsenwire/media_entertainment/mccain-tops-obamas-record-breaking-ratings/

Was the RNC successful?

Personally, I loved the RNC. I thought the best night was Wednesday night with Palin and Rudy. That was definatly the red meat night of the convention. Palin and Rudy took Obama apart. Of course the most important night was last night when McCain took the stage. I've seen the speech several times now and I liked it, but I didn't love it. That may be for the best as the speech was aimed at moderate democrats and independents. I'd say it'll be Sunday or Monday until the polls reflect the true impact of this speech. However polls that have come out recently our showing the gap between Mccain and Obama narrowing.

A CBS poll went from having Obama up eight to a tie. Rasmussen Reports has a headline on their from page "McCain's Bounce begins." Gallup is showing a three point bump Obama was up 7 now he is up 4. None of these polls include reaction the McCain's speech last night. I also don't think they have the full effect of Palin's speech Wednesday night taken into account. I expect McCain to have a lead in the polls come Monday.

Did McCain outdraw Obama?

Presidential candidate John McCain's acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention drew more television viewers than his rival Barack Obama attracted at the Democratic party's event last week, according to preliminary ratings from Nielsen Media Research.

Across all broadcast networks Thursday, Sen. McCain’s speech ended the night with a 4.8 rating/7 share, compared to Sen. Obama’s 4.3/7 average, according to overnight numbers from metered households in 55 U.S. markets measured by Nielsen. These ratings are preliminary, however, and are subject to change.

Wow! I did not expect McCain to outdraw Obama, Hell I didn't expect him to outdraw Palin. If these numbers hold and in fact McCain outdrew Obama. Obama's campaign is in real trouble. I said to a couple of friends last night I wouldn't be surprized by a 15 point bump. (that would put McCain up 5-8 points by Sunday or Monday) I may have been underestimating.

http://www.tvweek.com/news/2008/09/mccain_tv_ratings_beat_obama_i.php

37.2 million tune in for Palin

ST. PAUL -- The McCain campaign must be giddy with this news, just out from Nielsen: Sarah Palin's speech generated 37.2 million viewers, just a 1.1 million viewers fewer than watch Barack Obama's Invesco Field acceptance speech. As Nielsen notes, only six networks carried Palin's speech compared with ten for Obama's.
